Details From the SSMAFL League Meeting
The first League Meeting of the Season took place at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
The Meeting was a Special General Meeting and amended the Constitution to reflect the 12-12-16 setup and also made alterations to the Committee as follows:
League Secretary: John McFarlane to replace Willie Rutherglen
Match Secretary: Dougie Anderson to replace John McFarlane
The draw for the League Cup was made at the Meeting. This was on a Sectional basis with 8 groups of 5 Clubs drawn from 4 "regional" pots. Clubs will play each other once with the top two qualifying for the last 16 knockout. Ties will take place on the 16th, 13rd & 30th August, together with the two intervening midweeks. The Draw is available on the "Cup Fixtures & Results" page.
Welcome to our new Member Clubs
The League welcomes several new Members this Season: AFC Airdrieonians, Blairdardie United, Cambuslang Cosmos, Dewars, East Dunbartonshire, East Kilbride Accies, Glasgow North, ICC and St Vincents Deaf FC. Their Contact Details are in the updated Club Contacts Page.
Best wishes go to Windlaw who have left us to focus fully on Saturday afternoon football in The Greater Glasgow AFL. They leave behind a legacy of three Division One Titles and numerous Cups over nearly 20 years of involvement in the League.
In addition to those who fell by the wayside in Season 2007/08, the close Season has claimed Whinhall United and Kings Church and the League parted company with Scotsman and Tradeteam. | |

A special mention also went out to Johnathan Woodhouse & Iain McLelland who announced their retirement. Both players have been excellent members of the squad from virtually day one and we are all sad to see them move on. Good luck to both and hopefully we will continue to see them at social events. |
