ICC overcame EK Accies in the first round of the Strathclyde Cup, with a comfortable 3-1 win at the KG5 Arena.
The usual Hampden-esque surface was very dry and bobbly and it took ICC time to adjust to the park. Despite the conditions, ICC dominated for most of the match but slipped behind when EK Accies scored from a corner to take a 1-0 lead. The ball broke to the EK player around 14 yards out, and he made no mistake as he smashed the ball in the roof of the net.
ICC continued to press though and a Chris Woodcock freekick had to pushed away by the EK keeper. There was chances for Craig Thomas and Davie Thomson as both had efforts end up in the keepers arms. However the pressure paid off before after when Ally McLeman powered home a header from Ross Dougall's corner.
After the break, ICC continued to push forward and got their second from another Dougall corner as Craig Thomas header found the net.
The game was sealed by captain Fraser Buchan, as he delicately chipped the ball over the EK keeper after he found space in the box. After the game, Fraser stated "I may not be a great goalscorer, but simply a scorer of great goals".
So ICC progress to the next round where they will meet County Thistle.
